Hey there folks.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of going back to school (currently have an AS) and decided to look up how much benefits I have left in my Post 9/11 GI Bill. I went to school for a year, transferred to a different school in a different state, and continued for another 2 years before receiving my AS, so I’ve used 3 years worth of benefits.
The VA.gov site is telling me that I’ve used 23 months and 22 days of my benefits, and still have 12 months and 8 days left. The math doesn’t check out to me.
I’ve attended 3 years of school with my benefits, or 6 semesters. Each school year is ~9 months. So shouldn’t I have used closer to 27 months worth of benefits instead of 24? And should I have about 9 months of benefits leftover? From what I’m seeing now, I could potentially still have enough GI bill benefits for another school year plus maybe another semester.
Did someone at the VA calculate something incorrectly or am I calculating something incorrectly?
