Has anyone else heard about the new 48 month rule for combined benefits? Used to be 48 months was the hard stop of edu/VRE benefits. If you had eligibility under multiple edu programs you could only draw 48 months total…36 months CH33 – 12 months CH31, 18 months CH30 – 18 Months CH31, etc.
I saw this fly across twitter today:
“The Dept. of Veterans Affairs has mad a change to the 48 month rule. The new rule looks at each Education benefit as a separate benefit. One benefit does not affect the other. So for example, when a vet has 36 months of CH 33 then uses all or part of CH33 , then goes to CH31 the vet has a FULL 48 months of CH31.
Monday, March 22nd the Northeast region of VRE participated in training to learn about the new 48 month rule. The remaining portion of the country will get trained this week….”
It looks like VA is heeding the court ruling in BO vs. Wilkie? New boss in town?
