Life for a military family can be challenging. Not only does that lifestyle typically involve moving every couple of years, but families with kids also have to face deployments and long stretches without seeing their babies.
When you have a young child at home, they don’t always understand why their mom or dad can’t be present with them. They just want them home. But for parents serving in the military, that’s not always a possibility since deployments are mandatory.
It can be really challenging, but it makes those visits home and moments with loved ones even more special. It’s especially touching when a deployed parent returns home unexpectedly as a surprise to their kids.

That’s what happened with the Watts family. Ralph Watts was away for deployment with the military and his son, Benji, and wife, Meek Watts, were home together. They both missed Ralph a lot, but it was especially hard for little Benji.
One day while Benji was sleeping, someone came into his room and woke him up. Benji didn’t want to wake up and rolled around in bed, not wanting to open his eyes – but as soon as he realized who was waking him up, he jumped out of bed.

His dad had come home for a surprise visit and Benji couldn’t believe it. He jumped into his dad’s arms and gave him a big bear hug. It was incredibly touching.
Meek shared a video of the moment on Instagram. Watch the video below:
