Hi all… Currently enrolled in school, full online. I also work full-time, and it’s getting a bit exhausting.
Besides the reduced housing allowance, is there any downside to cutting back my schooling to “half-time”? i.e. only taking 1 class at a time instead of 2 classes side by side.
My primary concern is that I would lose benefits-time towards that 36-month’s worth if it takes me longer. I’ve heard that going to school half-time makes those months only count at half-time, but haven’t actually read that anywhere or seen it for sure.
In case it matters for more info: I’m going to school at UMGC. Currently taking 4 classes per semester (2 classes that last 8 weeks, 1 week break, then 2 more 8-week classes = full-time semester of 12 hours). Ideally, I’d like to go down to 1 8-week class, 1 week break, then 1 more 8-week class.
How will this affect my GI Bill’s benefits, if at all? (Besides being paid less for housing, which I don’t mind or need.)
Edit: The wiki that the bot linked had the exact answer I was looking for. Thanks a ton, what a great wiki!
