Alex Chisholm hasn’t seen his son, U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Zay Chisholm, in three years. He wanted to plan a trip to Japan to visit Zay where he was stationed, but soon he would learn that Zay had something way better in mind.
Once quarantine came to an end, the Navy started giving their officers dates that they’d be able to go home. When Alex was looking at the different dates, he saw that his dad’s birthday was during one of the windows and knew he had to choose that one.
Zay says Alex always jokes around and says people always do so much for Mother’s Day and for moms, but no one ever does anything amazing or cute when it comes to dads. But Zay knew surprising his dad for his birthday would be the best gift ever.
Alex works as a radio host, and was at the studio during what he thought would just be another normal day at work. But it would be anything but that.
Out of nowhere, Zay walks into the studio, and as soon as Alex realizes that it’s his son, his jaw literally drops. He screams, runs and jumps into Zay’s arms, giving him the biggest hug he could give.
Alex says his son surprising him was the last thing he ever expected, especially since his radio station isn’t allowing anyone outside of the media in their building due to COVID-19.
Zay has his dad’s coworkers to thank for helping him pull off this amazing surprise. Alex wanted to take off for his birthday, but his co-host convinced him to come in so they could celebrate with a little party.
When he saw his coworkers walk into the room with a cake, he was so happy because they never got him a cake before. But when he saw what was coming in behind the cake, he couldn’t help but cry.
