Driver On Flooded Road Rescued By Bus Full Of US Marines

[ad_1]

On a rainy day in Washington, D.C., one driver became stuck as the roads became flooded. Rising past knee height, the waters threatened to swamp her car and make what was supposed to be a simple drive home become an emergency situation.

Fortunately, the woman was in the perfect place to get some help.

A short distance in front of her car was a bus that was winding its way through Columbia Pike on its way back from Arlington National Cemetery. Onboard was a group of Marines, in their dress blues.

The Marine Corps Body Bearers were on their way back from a funeral when they spotted the car in distress.

“If there’s anyone who’s going to help these people, it’d be us. We were the right ones for the job and hopped out without hesitation,” said Corporal Mitchell Wojtowicz in an interview with FOX5 News.

Making their way through the rising water, the group asked the woman to roll down her window, checking that she was alright before putting their weight behind her car and beginning to push.

“This is the most American thing ever!” the woman can be heard exclaiming in the video of the encounter, which was shared on TikTok and has garnered more than 4 million views.

“Definitely didn’t do it for attention or views or anything like that. Just trying to do the right thing when no one’s watching. In this case, somebody was recording, but it was cool to see the positivity that sparked from it,” Corporal Jared Tosner told the outlet.

While it may have been a small gesture for the group of men that day, it absolutely impacted the life of the woman they helped, and the symbolic power of the group banding together to help someone in need resonated with viewers.
