WA Long Term Care Requirement : Veterans

Hi everyone,

Washington state will start requiring a payroll deduction to fund long term care.

TL;DR You need to get a specific type of policy to cover long term care needs to apply for an exemption.

I’m rated at 80% and after contacting the state and VA, I don’t have a good answer if my VA coverage suffices for an exemption from this tax. They don’t know or don’t respond.

The only period to apply for an exemption is this fall otherwise you’re stuck for life.

Does anyone have any experience here or done their own research? How is the LTC coverage at the VA? In my research it seems to hit all the required points but with such a narrow window, I want to be sure. Appreciate any help!
