Newest Addition to the NVF Family

We’re so proud of our 2014 Freightliner M2 box van truck! The smaller NVF van has been in service since 2007. It’s traveled many a mile as our only Outreach vehicle, searching out encampments of homeless vets, ferrying Survivor Boxes, food, water and personal hygiene items into communities like LA’s Skid Row. A welcome sight to many, its age was beginning to show right at the time when we needed something larger to receive and transport bulk donations like pallets of food. 

We were balancing increased maintenance costs against a major investment (and how to make that happen) when a supporter suggested a GoFundMe campaign for the specific purpose of replacing our van. And then something wonderful happened: the campaign was successful! Best, it was pushed totally over the top by a major gift from a long-time supporter and former board member, Bernie Gudvi. Variety magazine honored him in November for his decades of support for the NVF.

This Mighty M2 allows us to expand our outreach distributing bulk donations like pallets of nonperishable food, PPE masks and hand sanitizer, water, and other supplies for needy and homeless Veterans, and to pick up donations of furniture from Veterans’ families to distribute to homeless Veterans as they move into transitional and permanent housing.
