Texas Veteran Spouse Education help, please! : Veterans

[ad_1]

Hi everyone! I have been looking at going back to school to finish my degree. Few details about my spouse who is a vet below.

– Texas-born and lived in TX before and after served time.

– Served 6 years

– receives 80% disability

Ok – now to what I have figured out…

– I do not qualify for the G.I. bill because he did not transfer it at 6 years and did not sign up for 4 more.

– I do not qualify for the Hazelwood Act because he does not receive 100% disability.

So my question is…is there anything else I could be looking at to help with education cost? When filling out your FASFA is there benefits for Veteran families? Do some schools give financial aid just because you are a veteran family? My husband makes 6 figures so I am not sure we could qualify for any financial aid.

The school I am looking at is Sam Houston State in Texas outside of Houston. They have a Veterans resource center (https://www.shsu.edu/dept/veterans-resource-center/) to which I will be reaching out as well, just wanted to see if there was any advice someone could give. Thank you!
