Four Women of Color Make Navy History

[ad_1]

This is an incredible story of skill, determination, love, and service to the country and to the Navy. The four women you will meet here in this video have all recently been given command of four U.S. Navy warships. You read that right. All of them have been placed in command because of their demonstrated leadership and professional skills. They will, each one of them, make you proud.

Each of these women will be introduced to you, and you will get to know a little bit about their lives, their preparation for these positions, and how the Navy has supported and recognized them by their individual character, their intelligence, their backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and their leadership skills.

To command a U.S. Navy warship is an awesome recognition as well as an awesome responsibility. Not all officers have the necessary combination of skills, mental acuity, and leadership to be given such a command. These four women have gotten to this august position precisely because they have demonstrated, over their careers, the specific abilities necessary for such a command.

As you will see through their own words, they are humble yet confident; they know who they are and what they are about. They have, over their various Navy careers, shown the strength of their own individual character, personality, and the professional know-how to be successful commanders of their crews and their individual ships’ missions.

Enjoy meeting these fine, professional, newly minted, U.S Navy ships’ captains.

The Veterans Site wishes all four of these wonderful U.S. Navy officers great success in their command missions. They are certainly models of what the best Navy officers are made of. We wish them all Fair Winds and Following Seas.
