[ad_1]

Wanaka, a jewel in the southern crown, is a stunning location anytime of the year and is particularly popular in winter due to its close proximity to the Southern Alps and Lakes, however spring in Wanaka lends itself to a whole new set of experiences and vistas.

Part of the Queenstown-Lakes district this tourist resort is in the Otago region of New Zealand and is the gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park. The town is situated at the southern end of Lake Wanaka and is surrounded by mountains. Whilst spring might be the wettest of its seasons it still boast an annual rainfall half that of the national average.

Accommodation in Wanaka offers many options and is preferred by many over Queenstown as it is considered less commercial so book yourself into a luxury lodge and head out to see what is happening. Here are some things you might like to do:

One of the more unusual and definitely unique attractions is Stuart Landsborough’s Puzzling World. Home to the world’s first 3D maze, you will find mind-bending fun and adventure with four illusion rooms and some very eccentric architecture. With names like hologram hall and tilted house you know you are in for a great time for all the family.

If you like a bit of activity with your sightseeing the river run series is a great way to combine the two. Commencing in October and running through to May there are four races in the series, which take you recently developed tracks in the area and are all either riverside or lakeside and is suitable for first timers or veteran competitors.

With such inspiring surroundings the area attracts many artisans such as carvers, painters, photographers, sculptors, and writers. Take the art trail through the many galleries, such as Gallery Thirty Three, The Picture Lounge and Metalworx. With such a diverse range of works available you are sure to find something that suits your taste perfectly, you may even discover a new love.

If you are looking for a something a little reminiscent of a time gone by, a trip to the cinema may not immediately seem like the place, however Cinema Paradiso will not only catapult back to the days where the movies were a great community event but also offer some quirky seating and good old fashioned service, they serve meals before and after the show too.

Book your accommodation in Wanaka today and take advantage of the wonder things this place has to offer during spring.
