1-800-SWEEPER’s 800-Challenge Campaign Houses 80 Homeless Veterans

1-800-SWEEPER wrapped up their 800-Challenge fundraising campaign in support of Veterans Matter by raising over $60,000 and housing 80 homeless veterans.

The 800-Challenge fundraising effort was created by 1-800-SWEEPER, with support from dozens of their nationwide Partners, to help raise funds for Veterans Matter – National Veterans Housing Program, a non-profit organization that helps to house homeless veterans in long-term, permanent housing.

“The ache for home exists in all of us,” said Ken Leslie, Founder and Advocate-in-Chief of Veterans Matter. “Each one of the 1-800-SWEEPER Partners have been heroes to the heroes living on the streets. On behalf of every man, woman, and child you have moved from cardboard to headboard in their own home for the brave in the land of the free, we say thank you for being there, when they needed you most.”

1-800-SWEEPER’s Partners kicked off the campaign nationwide on Veterans Day 2020 with a series of social media posts and print media coverage. At the conclusion of the fundraiser on December 30, 2020, the 800 Challenge campaign raised $61,495 – funds that will help provide a warm, safe home for 80 veterans and their families.

Ben Steyer, Executive Director of 1-800-SWEEPER, said, “Giving back is paramount to our organization’s culture. We fully support our veterans and having the opportunity to aid in providing permanent housing for them has been an honor.”
